The Mojave Desert (pronounced /moʊˈhɑːvi/ or /məˈhɑːvi/, or High Desert) occupies a significant portion of southeastern California and smaller parts of central California, southern Nevada, southwestern Utah and northwestern Arizona, in the United States. Named after the Mohave tribe of Native Americans, it is a typical Basin and Range topography.

The Mojave Desert's boundaries are generally defined by the presence of Yucca brevifolia (Joshua trees); considered an indicator species for this desert. The topographical boundaries include the Tehachapi together with the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountain ranges. The mountain boundaries are quite distinct since they are outlined by the two largest faults in California: the San Andreas and the Garlock. The Great Basin shrub steppe lies to the north; the warmer Sonoran Desert (the Low Desert) lies to the south and east. The desert is believed to support between 1,750 and 2,000 species of plants.

Q. it looks abandoned and probably is, does anyone know wut the name of the waterpark is?

A. Rock-A-Hoola is a defunct waterpark in Newberry Springs, California. Formerly known as Lake Dolores, the original park was built between the late 1950s and early 1960s as a campground with a lake before it evolved into a waterpark. Besides water slides the park boasted a lazy river-type rafting ride on inflated tubes the longest in the world at that time. The park had a checkered past, having opened and closed several times during the 1990s, entering bankruptcy in 1998. It was last open, on a part-time basis, in 2004. The water slides, attractions, and Lake Dolores are still visible today from Interstate 15 between California and Las Vegas. Surprisingly, the site appears as if it was maintained; there are no discarded newspapers… [cont.]

A. I particularly like the view of the sky when one is far enough from both Phoenix and Los Angeles and a sufficient distance from Interstate 10 to avoid seeing headlights from cars.

A. To get to the outskirts of the desert from WeHo, the above answerer is correct. But the Mojave is HUGE and covers most of Nevada. It stretches from California into other states too. I guess we'd have to know WHERE in the Mojave you want to go to be able to answer your question completely.
