What are the suburbs of San Antonio, TX with the lowest crime rates and best school system?
Q. Also with affordable housing? Any help you can provide will be appreciated? My family and I are planning to relocate to Texas and we're really liking what our research is showing us in regards to San Antonio. What advice would you give to a potential SA transplant?

A. Alamo Heights/ Lincoln Heights/ Oak Park [78209] area is definitely low crime and great education, but housing can be costly. The people are friendly, you've great little shopping areas and restaurants all in a close range. Some major points of interests in the area would be: the Quarry Market (Shopping Centre), Central Market H-E-B (Nice, upscale, grocery store), and other places. I would consider that area as well as areas around LP1604 including the area around Bandera, around I-10 and around US281. I'm not quite sure of Universal City (the area of 1604 around I-35N), but I believe Schertz, which is a city about 20-30 mi (15-25 min) from the centre of the city, just right outside is nice as well. Word of advice, try to avoid living in… [cont.]

How much sales tax should I charge San Antonio?
Q. I have a client (large company) in San Antonio that I am doing a video shoot & edit for... I am not sure how much sales tax to charge on the over-all invoice... Do I charge them my Local tax amount or am I charging them San Antonio's sales tax rate? ANy help would be appreciated. Tommy I am in San Marcos, Tx... Client is in San Antonio, Tx.
Asked by Tommy O - Mon Mar 10 11:31:28 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. San Marcos has a 8.25% tax rate. That is where you are located, so that is what you would charge for sales tax. There are situations where a business would charge additional USE tax when the customer is in another jurisdiction...but the maximum sales and use tax that can be collected in Texas is 8.25%. For more info, go to and download document 94-105 (about 3/4 the way down the page). However, I'd be questioning whether you should be charging any sales taxes at all. I'm not sure that the professional services you are doing are subject to sales tax in Texas. My suggestion is to call the comptroller's office and ask them. (800) 531-5441

I was just wondering why doesn't San Antonio have a big airport or an airline hub?
Q. San antonio has both smaller airports than dallas and houston but san antonio is bigger than dalls alone. Couldn't San Antonio be a hub for latin america? I get your answers, but dallas is only bigger than san antonio with fort worth. San Antonio alone is bigger than Dallas alone.
Asked by UTlonghorns - Tue Jul 28 19:22:03 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. For the incorporated city areas: the rank is Houston, Dallas then San Antonio, with not too much difference between them (less than 800,000). But when you include the near suburbs of those cities, Dallas has three times the population of San Antonio (6.1 million to 2 million). That's why DFW is a much larger airport than San Antonio.

How much do you pay for electricity in the San Antonio area?
Q. I'm looking for people that have homes that are 3000 sqft or larger and run their AC/Heating pretty much 24/7. I usually like to keep ours around 72 to 74 during the day and 76 at night. So how much do other people pay in the San Antonio area for a similar setup?
Asked by OneBigHick - Thu Jun 21 02:05:20 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Contact your electrical utility. I'm sure they would be happy to help you estimate this. However, you have to know there are lots of variables - how much shade does the house get? What color is it? More importantly, what color is the roofing material? How much insulation does it have? They probably will only be able to give you an average. If you are looking at a particular house, they could probably give you an estimate of annual electrical consumption, or could give you an estimate of the average for such type homes in the area.

What place in san antonio hires 15 year olds?

A. nunya b has the right idea, however alot of people will not take the risk of hiring younger people for liability and insurance purposes. I think the San Antonio Express news hires really young people. Or you could get out the lawn mower and cut some grass. The temps are getting higher each day abd people are just not going to want to do it themselves. Or you could babysit. Wash cars? Pet groom? Hope I helped.

I'd like to start a produce garden in my (new) sunny San Antonio, TX yard. What will grow, and when?
Q. I just moved to San Antonio from Minneapolis. I'm living on a restricted budget, so I wanted to know if I could grow some food in my yard to feed myself. I'm completely new to the climate and all of the plant life seems foreign; thus, I think it would be unwise to garden in the same way I do in Minneapolis. My yard here is generally sunny, but there are some shady areas as well. Whatever tips you can give me relating to growing produce or general outdoor plant care in San Antonio (or an area with a similar climate) would be fantastic. Thanks!

A. I'd talk to local garden shops before the county extension folks. They'll have a better idea of what does well there. You might also talk to the staff at a local botanical garden or arboretum.. Normally both are very forthcoming with info and knowledgable. Hope you enjoy the new climate.. it WILL be different for you.

A. Airlines usually want a 4 year degree of some kind, but you don't need to go to an aviation university to become a pilot and it may be more costly to do it that way. There are plenty of flight schools at airports all over the country. There are numerous websites out there about learning to fly. Here are a few: https://flighttraining.ao pa.org/learntofly/

Where are the good places to live in San Antonio?
Q. I might have to move to Texas for a new job. I am kind of excited, and I want to leave Georgia. I know nothing about San Antonio and it's neighborhoods. I know nothing about traffic. What are some good areas to live in, and how easy is it to get around in San Antonio?

A. There are bad neighborhoods all over the city I'd say the worst area of San Antonio is the westside the area all the way from 410 West into Downtown crime is high there and the area is mostly very old and poor. Everytime I am around there something bad is happening weither its a murder or a robbery and most of the city "Courts" Housing Projects are in this part of town. Its only great if your trying to get some tacos or trying to learn spanish lol. I live on the far westside however near the 151 freeway and its a nice diverse area it has a good balance of white, black, latinos, asians. There are nice schools, shopping centers, and alot of resturants most of the area is entirely brand new, especially around the Westover Hills/Potranco Road/ [cont.]

driving from san antonio to shreveport what time should i avoid austin traffic on i35?
Q. im gonna be taking a road trip for my b day and i do not want to hit traffic in austin on i35 what time does the morning rush start? and end? i wanted to leave san antonio early to avoid our traffic but i think that will put me in austin just in time to hit there traffic.
Asked by unknown - Tue Jun 1 15:35:06 2010 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well, driving on I-35 at ANY time of day through Central Austin is a terrible idea, as that stretch of I-35 is considered to me one of the worst in the nation. But as far as rush hour traffic, I think it starts around 6-6:30 am, and ends around 9 am. If you don't mind spending money on tolls, you could always take the toll road to circumvent most of Austin. You would take Toll 45 which is just south of Austin, which will take you to Toll 130. Then take that up to Georgetown and get back on I-35. At that time of day it might be worth it.

Q. I have a ton of stuffed animals that are like new that I have no use for. I am looking for a place that takes donations for Christmas for the less unfortunate children that don't have a Christmas. San Antonio has to have something and somewhere I can donate these to. Please any help would be great.
