South Texas is a region of the U.S. state of Texas that lies roughly south of, or beginning at, San Antonio. The southern and western boundary is the Rio Grande River, and to the east it is the Gulf of Mexico. The population of this region is about 3.7 million. The southern portion of this region is often referred to as the Rio Grande Valley. The eastern portion along the Gulf of Mexico is also referred to as the Coastal Bend. BoundariesThere is no defined northern boundary, although it is believed to be at the city of San Antonio and from an east to west line extending from the Rio Grande near Maverick County to the Gulf of Mexico, but turning southeast at or near Lavaca County, and continuing towards the Gulf of Mexico to separate it from East Texas and Southeast Texas. The Rio Grande serves as the western and southern boundaries and separates Texas from Mexico. The eastern portion of South Texas is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico. From Wikipedia under the

Q. I was wondering because My family loves fresh fruits and veggies and stuff. We have a lime tree, tomato plant, mint shrubs, and chili peppers! We would like to grow avocados, but don't know if our climate is right. Can you grow them in Central/ south texas? I know how to plant them and get the roots started and all from sticking tooth picks in the sides, and let it rest on the edge of a cup filled with water. Asked by Simple Little Ways - Thu Nov 13 19:12:38 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Most of the avocados you get from the stores will not survive the winters in the San Antonio, TX area. If you have access to a greenhouse you can keep them alive long enough to fruit. My nursery is in the process of getting a variety that is freeze tolerant in this area. You need to plant them in groupings of 3 for best results, because you need a male and female tree. Answered by agb - Thu Nov 13 19:23:32 2008 Why are more cops shot dead in Texas/the south than other parts of the US? Q. Per capita, the south, Texas, and Florida have the highest rates of cops getting murdered. Why is this? Why don't these areas crack down on crime, and eliminate this sort of thing? Why are they so soft on crime? Source: Go through the stats by state. Texas especially is WAY ahead of the others. And its murder rate is above the national average. Why is Texas so soft on murder? Instead of executing only a few dozen murderers per year, why not execute a few hundred? Asked by LongTermCapitalManagement - Thu Sep 27 01:39:12 2007 - - 13 Answers - 0 Comments A. I don't believe that they are soft on crime. I believe that these southern states have cops that think they are "cowboys" and think that they are invincible! I think that their mouths and overzealous actions might be some of the reasons that they are getting killed.
